Why does your pool need chemicals?

This part is essential to ensure good water quality and proper operation of your pool equipment. For good disinfection, the priority is to adjust and stabilize the pH to obtain a balance in the water in terms of alkalinity, acidity, hardness and stabilization.

Water treatment

ProblemsCausesSolutions
Cloudy, dirty waterpH too high, poor filtrationAdjust the pH after checking, wash the filter, add
flocculant (sand filter only)
Chlorine odors and
eye irritation
Presence of chloramines, pH not correctAdjust the pH after checking, apply a shock treatment
or granulated chlorine
Chlorine odorsLack of chlorineAdjust the pH after checking, apply a shock treatment
or granulated chlorine
Greenish water and green traces
on the walls
Disinfectant level too low, or stabilizer level
too high, or filtration insufficient
Adjust the pH after checking, apply a shock treatment
or granulated chlorine, then 8 hours later add the algaecide, brush the walls, filter non-stop for at least 48 hours
Algae bloomsDisinfectant level too low, or stabilizer level
too high, or filtration insufficient
Adjust the pH after checking, apply a shock treatment, brush the walls, filter non-stop for at least 48 hours

Chlorine OK, pH OK, but
algae bloom
Alkalinity too lowAdjust the alkalinity after checking with the alkalinity booster,
apply a shock treatment, brush the walls, filter non-stop for at
at least 48 hours

Steps to treat your pool water

  • 1 - Water analysis

Check all water settings: TAC: 80 to 120 mg/l; pH: 7.0 to 7.4

  • 2 - Water balance

Adjust the TAC, then control the pH and finally adjust the pH: pH- to lower it and pH+ to increase it.

  • 3 - Disinfection

Apply shock disinfection treatment at the beginning of the season or in case of green water, then carry out maintenance: slow-release chlorine, bromine or active oxygen.

  • 4 - Prevention

Take preventive measures against algae (algaecide), limescale (chelating agent) and micro-particles (flocculant).

  • 5 - Pool maintenance

Simply clean the water line, cartridge and sand filters.
